Teacher: Miss Lister (Mrs Hendry PPA cover)

Nursery Nurse: Mrs Manning

   EYFS support: Mrs Abel/Mrs Roebuck

We currently have 25 reception and 12 nursery children in our Early Years unit. Our first nursery group attend all day Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning and our second nursery group attend Wednesday afternoon, all day Thursday and Friday. Children who are entitled to 30 hours funding attend full time.

Our class teacher is Miss Lister and our nursery nurse is Mrs Manning. We are very fortunate to also have Mrs Abel, Mrs Roebuck and Mrs Hendry supporting us with our learning in the Early Years unit. We have four key worker groups, which we eat snack in every day. As a healthy school we promote a healthy diet. All pupils in EYFS have fresh fruit and milk every day. As a school, we encourage our pupils to drink plenty of fresh water. Please make sure your child brings a water bottle each day and it is clearly labelled. Water bottles need to be taken home daily to be washed.

Please ensure that all of your child’s uniform is clearly labelled and regularly checked as this will prevent items being misplaced. We encourage all nursery children have a spare set of clothes in school at all times. Learning and exploring outside is an important part of our curriculum and a huge part of our day. We learn outside in all weathers. Please ensure that your child comes to school wearing suitable clothing and footwear weather dependent.

Our PE sessions are on a Monday and Thursday. Please ensure that your child has a named school PE kit for all sessions, including; pumps, black shorts and a white t-shirt. Please ensure that these items are in a regular pump bag which will fit on your child’s peg. Please also make sure any earrings are removed or covered up before your child comes into school on these days.

In Early Years we encourage children to become independent learners and teach through a skill based curriculum. We teach Literacy and Numeracy through Objective Led Planning and plan for a language rich environment. We love to learn and explore through child led activities and play in continuous provision based on our own interests. We enjoy taking part in Dough Disco everyday as this helps us to strengthen our finger muscles to get us ready for writing.

All parents and carers will be given a personal log in to access their child's 'Learning Journey' record.  We use Early Essence to track progress and plan next steps. You  are also welcome to upload pictures onto your child’s learning journey.

If you have any questions or concerns please see a member of the Early Years team. If the problem/question cannot be resolved at the time a mutually convenient time will be arranged to meet to discuss further.
