Turtles (Nursery/Reception)

 Welcome to Turtle Class

Teacher: Mrs Whitley/Mrs Wood

Nursery Nurse: Mrs Manning

Nursery support assistant: Mrs Hughes/Mrs Roebuck

We currently have 30 reception  and 11 nursery children in our Turtle class. If places are available children can start Nursery from the beginning of the new term after their 3rd birthday. Our nursery children attend all day Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday morning session. Then the second group attend Wednesday afternoon, all day Thursday and Friday sessions. Children who are entitled to 30 hours funding attend full time. We can have children in each session. Our teachers are Mrs Whitley and Mrs Wood. Our nursery nurse is Mrs Manning and our teaching assistant is Mrs Hughes. Mrs Roebuck also work in EYFS for interventions, literacy and numeracy nursery groups time. We have 4 key worker groups, which we eat snack in every day. As a healthy school we promote a healthy diet. All pupils in EYFS have fresh fruit every day, and water and milk are available. The children are able to access these throughout the day. As a school, we encourage our pupils to drink plenty of fresh water. Please make sure your child brings a water bottle each day.

As part of our curriculum we spend a lot of time outside so please make sure your child has a warm and waterproof coat as well as hat, gloves, scarf and wellies. In Early Years we encourage the children to become independent learners and teach through a skill based curriculum. We teach Literacy and Numeracy through Objective Led Planning and plan for a language rich environment. We love to learn and explore through child led activities and play in continuous provision based on our own interests. Every day we enjoy taking part in Dough Disco, this helps us to strengthen our finger muscles to get us ready for writing. As we plan to follow the children's interests, we do not have a yearly plan.

All parents and carers have a personal log in to access their child's 'Learning Journey' record.  We use Early Essence to track progress and plan next steps.
